The Lagoon 52 “Calista” arrived in Mindelo, Cape Verde Islands as winner of the Multihull Division for the first leg of the Arc+. This variation of the famous Atlantic Rally for Cruisers starts in Las Palmas and heads south for a stopover in the Cape Verde before continuing to St Lucia. Calista took just just under 6 days to complete the leg, leaving a fleet of skinny high-performance multihulls in her wake.
Refreshed and re-provisioned and now on her way to St Lucia, we wish Calista and her crew a fast, safe and enjoyable transatlantic run.
Calista was sold and commissioned by Ancasta. This is her owner’s third Lagoon, having previously owned a Lagoon 57 and a Lagoon 570. As he will be continuing on the World Arc with a very small crew, he decided to go down a notch in size to gain the easier sail handling characteristics and spacious interior of this modern Lagoon design. It doesn’t seem like he made any great sacrifice in performance in the process!
Ancasta Multihulls would like to thank the World Cruising Club for provising us with these images of the ARC.
